My Story

I spent the first part of my career in AIB where I trained and qualified as a solicitor. I went on to hold several leadership roles there. During that time I worked very closely with my business colleagues to really understand what they wanted to achieve and the challenges that they faced. My role was to help them deliver and achieve their objectives, within the confines of the law, which means that you advise your clients with both a commercial and legal mindset.

However, whenever I had cause to get legal advice from external law firms, I often found that their advice was written in legalese, not commercial and on top of all that it was very expensive!

They were great at telling us what we couldn’t do but not so great at problem solving! It occurred to me that if AIB was struggling to find plain English, commercial legal advice which was solutions focused, then what were SMEs doing? How were they getting access to plain English commercial legal advice, at more affordable rates and from an approachable person! Which is why I set up my law firm, Boland Law and I do exactly that, I provide SMEs with access to an experienced inhouse commercial lawyer who understands the challenges faced by businesses who will give them plain English, practical legal advice.

Our approach is different to that of traditional law firms as we partner with our clients to really understand their needs and take a holistic view of their business.
We provide legal advice and guidance on a variety of matters including template terms and conditions and contracts, how to protect their brand by using intellectual property, employment law matters, corporate governance, data protection, new laws or regulation and we also provide our larger clients with their own part time inhouse lawyer.
